What we don’t know

Tell me what you love

Tell me what you eat

Show me your home

Teach me a prayer

Your prayer

Come and see what I love

Come and see what I eat

Let me show you my home

Let me teach you a prayer

My prayer

Where you are from

Is not your fault

Where I am from

Is not my fault

But where we go

That is a decision

What we know

Is only what we have been taught

What we teach our kids

That is the lesson

Let us not take

Let us not break

But

Let us give

Let us build

Let us not follow examples set

Let us lead, setting the example

What I learned from my mon in law

People are in our lifes for a reason

Like a lot of families we to had to sometimes share homes and lives with family or friends. I got to spend a lot of time with my mom in law after my dad in law passed away. We have been living together for four years (yikes I hear some say, and some days it was yikes).

There is a big differences in the way younger people do things vs how older people do things..and both ways drive the others insane!

But here is what I learned from my mom in law:

  1. Always remember people’s birthdays. And give them a call. Not a fb message or whatsapp.
  2. Never drink to much. Have your drinks every day if you want, but never drink so much that you are not in control of what you do or say. You cannot always take back what you did while intoxicated
  3. Never eat until you are so full that you need to loosen the pants button. You dont need this.
  4. Always look your best. Even if you are just going to buy some wine (☺), at least dont do it in your slippers and put some lipstick on. You never know who you will run into.
  5. Put effort into the people you love. Pour them a drink. Dish up for someone. Prepare a bath. Read a story. Go fetch something they need. Show them you care.
  6. Look after the stuff you have. You have worked hard to buy stuff for your house and family. Look after it. Wash your car and pull into the garage. Dont put your feet on the couch. Clean up spills. Use a coaster. Pick things up.
  7. Patience! She has the most patience with my little girls. And she listens and plays with them. She never shouts and always talk to them like grown up people.
